Coxheath Primary School

Term 4

This term we have some super exciting learning to embark upon and we will begin our discoveries in the age of the dinosaur!  We will draw upon the children’s existing knowledge of all things Jurassic and discover what they would love to know about the amazing era of the dinosaur.  Our understanding of how the world has changed over time will equip the children with the skills and knowledge to transform their beloved role-play into a prehistoric landscape.

In maths, the children will be focusing on measure, using an array of equipment to measure dinosaur footprints and to discover the size and scale of the largest dinosaur ever discovered!  We will of course be continuing with number to deepen the fantastic progress that the children are making with their number sense.

In phonics, we will continue to learn new sounds and revisit existing ones to ensure that we have the skills to read and write.  We will be using our amazing skills to write captions, notices, lists and a guide on how to look after a dinosaur.

We will be looking at fossils, answering questions like why did dinosaurs eat stones?  Singing the dinosaur stomp and creating a dinosaur swamp!  It will be a super fun term jam packed with history, nature and knowledge.  At the end of term, our budding class of palaeontologists will welcome parents and carers into the setting to view the exhibits in the children’s very own ‘Fossil Museum’.

The EYFS team can’t wait to welcome you back and don’t forget to be RAWRSOME!!!
