This term our core text is Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, by J.K. Rowling. The book is about the adventures of Newt Scamander and includes detailed information texts about the creatures Newt meets whilst on his adventures. We will use the text as inspiration to design our own mythical creatures and write an information text. We will also be learning how to use colons and bullet points and applying these within our writing.
This term we will be studying Fieldwork in Geography. We will consider the tools geographers use to conduct fieldwork as well as exploring examples of fieldwork currently being carried out. We will then use these tools ourselves to conduct fieldwork within our local area.
In Maths, we will be exploring multiplication and division. We will also be revising previously taught skills and developing our problem solving and reasoning skills. Please do continue to learn multiplication tables and division facts at home, as they are fundamental to the Year 6 curriculum.
In DT, we will we be studying veganism and designing our own vegan dish. We will be exploring what food items vegans do and do not eat, as well as taste testing some plant-based snacks and meals. We will then explore vegan recipes before designing, making and evaluating our own vegan dish.
For Computing, we will explore the world of binary. We will be using Purple Mash for this so you could always log on at home and share your learning.
In PE, we will be refining our netball skills as well as taking part in a variety of fitness activities.
In RE, we will be studying the topic 'What do religions say to us when life gets hard?’ We will learn what different religions can teach us about dealing with hard times in life.
In PSHE, we will be continuing to learn about health and wellbeing. We will consider how to look after our minds and bodies as well as the impact of technology on our health.
