This term, we will be learning all about the Shang Dynasty; the first Chinese dynasty for which we have written and archaeological evidence. We will be building on our knowledge of prehistoric settlements from our previous learning. Through learning about world history, we will be exploring the diversity of societies and reflecting on changes over time.
In Mathematics, we will be exploring addition and subtraction of 3 digit numbers, including crossing tens. We will consolidate our knowledge of place value using place value grids, place value counters and base 10. We will demonstrate excellence through our exceptional presentation when using column methods of addition and subtraction. We will continue to practice our 2, 5 and 10 times tables and will begin to learn our 3, 4 and 8 times tables in order to earn our times tables certificates.
In DT, we will explore the concept of pneumatics. We will be identifying pneumatic systems in our everyday life and asking questions to understand how each mechanism works. We are looking forward to using the materials donated by our school community to design a pneumatic toy.
In our French lessons, we will learn vocabulary to talk about our families. We will learn the difference between masculine and feminine nouns and begin to write simple sentences using the verb ‘avoir’.
In RE, we will learn about the importance of prayer in people’s lives. We will consolidate our previous learning about Christianity and drawing comparisons with other world religions such as Judaism and Islam. Moreover, we will reflect on the impact of prayer in our own lives.
For Computing, we will use presenting software: Microsoft Powerpoint and Google Slides to produce an engaging presentation about our families.
In PSHE, we will continue to explore the theme of ‘family’ through learning about different families and how they compare to our own.
In Walmer, PE will take place on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. In Bodiam, PE will take place on Mondays and Wednesdays. We will develop strength, flexibility and balance through yoga and gymnastics.
