This term in History we will be using ‘Iggy the Iguanodon’ as part of our local study. We will be placing events on a timeline and learning about the life of Mary Anning, as well as other women in History as part of our studies.

In English, we will continue to focus on the basic sentence structure of simple and compound sentences. In addition, we will be learning about apostrophes for contraction. The children will have the opportunities to show off their skills by writing postcards.

Maths will focus on number addition and subtraction. We will recap key concepts from Year 1 such as number bonds to 10 and 20 as well as securing their number sense and understanding the relationship with the whole and parts of an amount using addition and subtraction to show this connection.

In Art, we will be exploring art inspired by buildings. Children will explore the work of artists including Monet, Hundertwasser and the Bauhaus movement, before creating their own piece in the style of Paul Klee.

Music lessons will be delivered using the Charanga Scheme. This term, our focus will be playing as an ensemble.

PSHE lessons will focus on jobs, as well as the use of technology in the workplace. We will have some visitors coming in at the end of term to tell us all about their professions
