Term 2

Term 2
This term, we are learning all about villages, town and cities. We are building on our knowledge of prehistoric settlements from our learning in term 2 to identify villages, towns and cities in the 21st century.

In Mathematics, we are exploring multiplication and division. We have revised strategies such as grouping and sharing when solving division calculations. We have also used number lines to solve calculations which has consolidated our understanding of the relationship between repeated addition and subtraction and multiplication and division. We have continued to practice our 2, 5 and 10 times tables and will begin to learn our 3, 4 and 8 times tables in order to earn our times tables certificates.

In Art, we are exploring different pencil techniques to experiment with dark and light tones to produce 3D drawings. We have used real life snails as our models for observational drawings and have been surprised by the spirals, circles and spheres that occur naturally within nature. We have had the opportunity to analyse a diverse range of artists and their artworks, choosing our favourite techniques and medium that will inform our final artworks.

In our Music lessons, we are learning how to play the glockenspiels. We will learn how to read notation, including counting bars and recognising the relevant notes to play.

In RE, we are learning how the Bible is important to Christians today. We have learned a huge variety of Bible stories, which include The Creation Story, The Lost Sheep and The Prodigal Son. We have discussed what these stories teach Christians about God and salvation.

For Computing, we will revise the importance of online safety; holding discussion about how to ensure we are kept safe online.

In PSHE, we will learn how to stay safe at home and in school. We are learning how to treat minor injuries and what to do in an emergency to keep others safe as well.

PE continues to take place on Mondays and Wednesdays. We will be learning how to dance tap and in fitness, we will be applying our Maths and Science skills to measure times and record data.

For Reading, please continue to read with your child for 10 minutes every day. If you do not have your Bug Club login details, please contact your child’s class teacher.
