Term 2

During Geography this term, we will be studying ‘Weather and Fieldwork’. Pupils will learn about the seaons and a variety of different types of weather. They will pose an equiry question regarding the perfect conditions in which to grow an apple tree and measure, compare and record data.

In English, we be recapping and building upon pupils understanding of , nouns, verbs and adjectives. We will be exploring statements, questions and commands and beginning to look at using an apostrphrophe for contraction. Children will be writing letters and instructions this term. Our class text will be Roald Dahl’s ‘The Enormous Crocodile’.

Maths this term will include the introduction of weekly timestables tests, with all children starting on their two times table. Whilst our focus will remain on number this term, we will be exploring addition and subtraction and number bonds to 100.

In Art this term we will be exploring figurative art – resulting in the creating of a cubist piece of work. Pupils will have the opportunity to explore various elements of portraiture and learn about different artists.

PSHE lessons will focus on bullying. Pupils will explore and define their own notions of bullying and how to spot and report and deal with bullying behaviour.

Science lessons will focus on humans, in terms of their development, offspring and basic needs. Pupils will have the opportunity to find out and describe the basic needs of all animals and describe the importance of excercie for humans.

For RE, we will be exploring ‘Who is Jewish and what do they believe? We will be looking at customs and traditions of the Jewish Faith, as well as listening to some Jewish teachings and considering how this influences the way in which people live their lives.

In Computing, children will be looking at Logic Reasoning and Predicting Behaviours and making digital music.

This term we are very lucky to have both of out PE sessions taught by our expert PE teachers. Miss Sargent will lead the children through a series of dance lessons and Mr Corocoran will be exploring aspects of fitness with pupils. Please ensure that children have a PE jumper to wear as we may have PE outdoors.

For Reading, please encourage your child to read at home for at least 10 minutes. If you do not have your Bug Club login details, please contact your child’s class teacher. Thank you for your continued support with our new phonics reading scheme.

Please also continue to use TT Rock Stars for practicing times tables. Reading records are to be brought in every Monday and Thursday and books will be changed and returned for you to keep for the week. Please note that Bug club is the most effective method for us to assess your child’s reading. If you are having, any troubles please feel free to let us know.
